What Can You Do About Erectile Dysfunction ED Right Now

It is now possible for men to continue being sexually active into their 70s, thanks to new treatments and more open communication between men and their doctors that treat their ED.

Sexual problems can be:

  • An inability or inability to obtain or maintain a satisfactory erection for sexual intercourse (also known as erectile dysfunction, ED).
  • Lack of interest in sex (diminished sexual libido).
  • Premature ejaculation
  • Delayed, or inhibited ejaculation
  • Penile Bending

Here will discuss common sexual problems and how to treat them. Talk to your doctor if you have problems with sex. They may be able to help.

ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

Causes — Erectile dysfunction is the term that describes the inability to erect or maintain it.

Low blood flow — Any condition that reduces blood flow to the penis may cause ED. Cigarette smoking, diabetes and obesity are all common causes of blood flow problems. Many commonly prescribed medications, including medications to lower blood pressure, can also affect sexual function. A decrease in blood flow through the penile arteries may occur before reduced blood flow to other vital organs, such as the heart. Men with ED should be assessed for other cardiovascular risk factors. Studies have shown that ED may be the first sign of a future heart attack. One study showed that 15 percent of men with new-onset ED will experience a heart attack within the next seven year.

Neurological causes — ED could be caused by stroke, penile trauma or diseases like diabetes. Prostate surgery can also cause nerve damage to the penis.

Medications — There are many drugs that can affect the nervous system, including some that lower or inhibit testosterone activity. ED can also be caused by opioids that are prescribed for chronic pain. ED is often associated with blood pressure medications such as antidepressants and beta blockers.

Mental causes – – Depression, execution anxiety, and nonattendance of focus

Depression – Common symptoms include a loss of libido, a lack of interest or a desire to have sex. Many men find ED depressing. Many men accept that aging brings about a decline of sexual function. They may avoid discussing the problem with their doctor or feel embarrassed. It is not uncommon for sexual problems to be diagnosed early and there are many treatment options.

Performance anxiety– Men who experience sudden erectile dysfunctions may be suffering from performance anxiety. The sexual experience becomes more than a simple one. Later attempts at having sex become the focal point of the sexual experience.

Diagnosis — A visit to a healthcare provider is the best way for you to determine what’s causing your problems.

The provider will conduct a complete sexual history and perform a physical exam to find out if there are any conditions that could be causing the problem. Other tests such as using medication to induce erections and then evaluating penile blood flow with ultrasound can provide valuable information.

Sexual history — To determine the root cause of the condition, the provider will ask you questions about your sexual life. Although it might seem awkward, this is a good opportunity to be honest and give as much detail as you can.

Providers will need to know:

  • ED can develop slowly or suddenly
  • He may have erections in the night or the morning after he wakes up.
  • Either you experience ED while masturbating or with a partner
  • There are problems in your relationship with your partner.
  • You have any risk factors such as ED: smoking history, diabetes, obesity or high cholesterol.
  • You have tried all medications for your ED.
  • Physical examination — The provider may also perform a basic examination.
  • Check pulses in the feet and groin.
  • Check your breasts for any abnormal swelling. This is “gynecomastia”.
  • Examine your penis
  • Check for abnormalities in the testicles and their size
  • Check your prostate

Testing — Your provider might order blood tests to determine the levels of testosterone, cholesterol and blood sugar in your blood. Sexual problems can be caused by abnormally low testosterone levels or high or low levels of thyroid hormones. Every man with sexual problems needs to have blood tests.

These tests can help diagnose more serious problems such as growth of the pituitary gland, or malfunction of your gonads. Even the most skilled health care professionals cannot diagnose hormone levels simply by asking questions and performing a physical exam; blood testing is required.

Medicines – – To treat ED, a man should have the option to erec and have sex.Depending on the cause, one or more of these options may be used.

Lifestyle changes — Improving your diet, sleep, and exercise can all help to improve your sexual health, such as ED or low libido.

Drugs and alcohol — Talk to your doctor if you think that one of your medications may be contributing to your ED. There may be other medications that you can use in some cases. It can be very beneficial to quit smoking or reduce or stop drinking alcohol. Your doctor can assist you if you have difficulty quitting smoking and cutting down on alcohol consumption.

Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibits — Phosphodiesterase-5 or PDE-5 inhibitors increase chemicals that enable the penis to erect. PDE-5 inhibitors allow blood to flow more freely through the penis. These drugs can help men erection after sexual stimulation but do not increase their sexual desire. To cause an erection, these medications need to be used in conjunction with sexual stimulation.

PDE-5 inhibitors can restore sexual function in as high as 70% of men. They are most effective for men suffering from psychogenic impotence , but can also be used to treat other types of ED. PDE-5 inhibitors can be effective in men who have blood vessel conditions (such as diabetes). Men who have had prostate cancer surgery are at a 25-30 percent success rate.

1. Sildenafil should only be taken on empty stomach and one hour prior to planned sex. The effect of Sildenafil lasts approximately four hours. This refers to the period that sexual stimulation is possible, not the length of the erection. One dose should only be taken every 24 hours. They are the medications like Cenforce, Fildena, Kamagra

2.Vardenafil and tadalafil are PDE-5 inhibitors that are used to treat ED. Men who take vardenafil can experience erection in response to sexual stimulation. This is similar to sildenafil. One dose should not be taken in a 24-hour period.

Tadalafil erects p*nis in men who use it This is due to the stimulation of the sexual organs. One dose should not be taken within 24 hours. You can also take tadalafil every day as a low dose pill. PDE-5 inhibitors might benefit from day to day tadalafil. It may also be prescribed to men suffering from ED or lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Avanafil’s onset of action can be as quick as 15 minutes. This is a bit faster than the other PDE-5 inhibitors.

Use of PDE-5 inhibitors

Side effects – PDE-5 inhibitors can cause headaches, dizziness, skin flushing, reddish skin, indigestion, and flushing. Sildenafil may cause low visibility. Most side effects are temporary and disappear quickly.

Drug interactions: Men who take nitrates (nitroglycerin), in any form, on a regular basis, or as needed to relieve chest pain, should not use PDE-5 inhibitors. PDE-5 inhibitors or nitrates can cause dangerously low blood pressure. PDE-5 inhibitors are not known to cause heart attacks.

If you have used a PDE-5 inhibitor and develop cardiac problems, it is important to discontinue using the PDE-5 inhibition in the future. Call your PCP right away assuming you experience chest torment.. Wait at least 48 hours after taking tadalafil before you start taking nitrates.

EJACULATION DISORDERS

Premature Ejaculation — This is ejaculation which occurs too soon, before the man’s ready. This can lead to distress for the man or his partner. Premature ejaculation can cause the penis to become flaccid (limp), which makes penetration more difficult.

Treatments — Some men may experience a longer time between ejaculation and arousal with antidepressant drugs. These drugs are the best for treating premature ejaculation. Although it may cause dry mouth, the tricyclic antidepressant clomipramine is more effective than SSRIs. You can take these medications on a daily basis. Some men prefer to use intermittently for three to four hours before planning sex.

You can also try topical lidocaine to reduce sensations and sex therapy.

Delay or inhibited Ejaculation — Men with this condition have no trouble obtaining and maintaining an erection, but they are unable to climax and ejaculate. Some antidepressant medication (SSRIs) can cause this. It is possible to adjust the medication dosage. Men with this condition may also benefit from sex therapy.
